Carol L. Shaffer, age 77, of Henderson, TX, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Longview Regional Medical Center in Longview, TX. She was born May 26, 1944 in Lodi, MO, the daughter of James Raymond Roach and Verna (Lewis) Roach.
Carol was married to Norman Shaffer May 4, 1963 at the Church of the Nazarene in Lodi. A long time resident of Henderson, she and her husband operated a saw mill and raised cattle.
Preceding her in death are her parents, James and Verna Roach, 2 brothers, Jim Roach and Lee Roach, and 4 sisters, Phyllis VanNoy-Bennett, Perma Lee Bridges, Rosalee Sullivan-Taylor and Mary Ruth Twidwell-Payton.
Survivors include her husband, Norman Shaffer, Sr, of Henderson, TX, 4 children, Brenda Kennedy and her husband Steve, of Loan Oak, TX, Cindy Ashby, of Henderson, TX, Norman Shaffer, Jr., of Henderson, TX, Michael Shaffer and his wife Jeri, of Hallsville, TX; 2 sisters, Faye Sutton, of Piedmont and Jackie Hart, of Poplar Bluff.
Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Trey Green, Jessica Handlin, James Green, Colter Ferguson, Hunter Ferguson, Justin Shaffer, Jayde Shaffer, Ty Shaffer, along with 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the Lodi Community Church with Rev. Kenny Burchard officiating. Jessica Handlin gave the eulogy for her grandmother and Doug Roach, Peggy Roach and Judy Hovis provided special music. Carol’s grandsons, Trey Green, James Green, Colter Ferguson, Hunter Ferguson, Justin Shaffer and Ty Shaffer served as Pall Bearers. Interment was in the Lewis Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Chapel. Memorials have been requested to the Lewis Cemetery Association.
