William Truman Coon, of Silva, MO, passed from his earthly home October 15, 2021. Born July 5, 1935 in Panama City, FL to his parents William W. Coon and Willie Beatrice Coon.
Bill married the love of his life Mary Louise Bennett January 10, 1959 in New Port Beach, CA. Together they raised a son, Dennis Shaver (wife, Christine, of Piedmont) and two daughters, Jackie Waites of Silva and Julie Crocker and husband Don, of Silva.
The Navy sent him to many places and many ships throughout his career. He retired in Poplar Bluff as a Navy recruiter after 25 years as a Chief Petty Officer USN.
Bill has been a resident of Silva the past 37 years. He loved the Lord and was loved by his family and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grandchildren are Jason Allen, Kaleb Shaver, Kiana Johnson, Hannah (Crocker) Webb and husband Dustin of Brookfield, MO, Meggan “Jessie” (Crocker) White and husband Derick of Greenville, MO and Donivan “Duke” Crocker of Silva. Great Grandchildren are Gracie, Grant, Gabrielle Webb, Eli, Abby and Eden White, Jakob and Savanah Allen.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the Camp Eight General Baptist Church with Pastor Everett Meese officiating. The church singers provided special music and Don Crocker, Dustin Webb, Derick White, Donivan Crocker, Grant Webb and Eli White served as Pall Bearers. Military Honors were provided at graveside by the US Navy and the Piedmont American Legion Post #281 Honor Team. Interment was in the New Liberty (Jacktown) Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
