Helen Marie Turner

Helen Marie Turner, formerly of Ironton, Missouri passed away on October 13, 2021, at the age of 94 years. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 17, 1927, to the late George and Alma (McClurg) Thompson. 

On November 19, 1944, she was united in marriage to James “Jake” Turner who preceded her in death on March 28, 1998. To this union four children were born: Joyce (Jim) Newman who preceded her in death, Mary “Joanne” (Gary) Propst of Pace, Florida; Patricia “Jean” (Steve) Cross of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; and James “Allan” (Penny) Turner of Reidsville, North Carolina.  Helen is survived by nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 

Helen was a graduate of Caledonia High School and the LPN nursing program at Mineral Area College. She was employed as an LPN in the local hospitals in Ironton for many years. She was a member of the Arcadia Valley United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was a member of United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Helen loved reading and listening to music, and she enjoyed playing the piano.

Funeral services was held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. from Bryson Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Ann Morris officiating. Visitation was prior to the service at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be at Arcadia Valley Memorial Park.
