Sherman Edward Reed
Sherman Edward Reed of Ironton, Missouri passed away at the Baptist Home on October 11, 2021, at the age of 88. He was born on May 2, 1933, to the late Claude and Anna Marie (Jackson) Reed.
On November 24, 1956, he was united in marriage to Carol Marie Young, who preceded him in death on October 27, 2013. To this union, two children were born: Roger (Kristina) Reed of Ironton, Missouri; Janice (Tony) Harbison of Arcadia, Missouri. Sherman is also survived by his sister, Nova “Geraldine” Sikes of Fredericktown, Missouri; 5 grandchildren: Crystal Crocker, Roger Gabe Reed, Clayton (Ashley) Harbison, Morgan (Garen) Nelson, Cody Ray (Amanda) Harbison; 6 great-grandchildren: Kaylan Crocker, Ellie Mae Harbison, Christopher Ray Harbison, Tony Eugene Harbison, Jeanette Harbison, John Harbison; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Sherman proudly served our country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Black Mountain General Baptist Church. He retired from J.S. Alberici where he was employed as a Carpenter. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting especially turkey and deer. He liked Ford trucks and CB radios. He went by the handle, Red Eagle “618.” Sherman will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 17, 2021, from Bryson Funeral Home with Cody Harbison officiating. Visitation was prior to the service beginning at 11:30 A.M. Interment was in Polk Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to the Polk Cemetery Association, or The American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
