Elsie Louise Atnip
Elsie Louise Atnip, 81, of Greenville, MO, passed away, Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. She was born in Burbank, MO, June 4, 1940, to parents William T. and Oral A. (Hull) Fagg.
Elsie was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She married Alva Atnip, February 11, 1955, and to this union seven children were born.
Elsie and Alva were very connected. They worked for the United States Postal Service on a rural route delivering mail together for over thirty years. They enjoyed traveling to Florida to the Miami area and loved the ocean breeze.
Elsie was a glamor girl, she enjoyed dressing up and getting her picture taken. She loved taking care of her family, sewing all their clothes when her children were young. She was a great cook and loved flowers and her flower garden.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-eight years; son: Alan L. Atnip; grandson: Alan E. Atnip brothers: Melt and Melvin Fagg; sisters: Dorothy Pikey, Verna Garcia, Marie Hobbs, Neva Broshuis.
Elsie is survived by her children: Stanley Atnip of Silva, Alva “Buzz” Atnip Jr. and wife Spicey of Greenville, William “Joe” Atnip and wife Diane of Greenville, Peggy Hill of Greenville, Juanita Estes and husband Paul of Williamsville, Elva Longhibler and husband Sean of Camdenton; grandchildren: Fawn Barks and husband Randy, Amanda Thurman and husband Thad, Taylor Atnip, Cory Atnip and wife Shirley, Andy Atnip and wife Jackie, Paige Estes, Philip Estes, Tasha Anderson and companion Randy Thompson, Alex Bryon, Jessica Bryon, Paige Adams, Shay Harvall, Chris Erics, many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Elsie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation was held Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Shiloh General Baptist Church, Shook, and the funeral service followed. Alex Ruegg read the obituary. Stanley Atnip, Alva Buzz Atnip, Joe Atnip, Larson Barks, Paul Estes, and Philip Estes served as pallbearers. Burial followed in Shiloh Cemetery.
