German, Graves Named South Iron Valedictorian, Salutatorian

Dayah German and Lawson Graves were named the top two students in the 2022 South Iron graduating class. German was valedictorian and Graves was the salutatorian.

Dayah German is the daughter of Stephanie and Juston German of Annapolis.
Some honors and recognitions that Dayah has received the President’s Education Award for Academic Excellence (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior), and Academic Excellence Awards for the Following Subjects: Art, English, Math, Science, Business, Social Studies, Family & Consumer Sciences (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior).
In addition to being a high school student, German was also enrolled at Mineral Area College. She was named to Mineral Area College Dean’s List for 4.0 GPA. She completed high school with an Associates of Arts Degree.
German received the George Washington Carver Award (Senior), the Valedictorian Award (Senior), Second Place at Beta State Convention with Living Literature Team (Freshman), and First Place at Beta Nationals with Living Literature Team (Junior).
She served as Student Council Secretary (Senior). FBLA Vice President (Senior)
German has been accepted into the Pre-Physical Therapy Program at Missouri State University. She has received the American Red Cross Scholarship, Ethan Riggs Memorial Scholarship, Peoples Community Bank Scholarship, A+ Recognition Scholarship, Federal Pell Grant, Provost Scholarship, and Access Missouri Scholarship.
Lawson Graves
Lawson Graves is the son Lawrence and Tara Graves of Annapolis
Lawson was on the A Honor Roll all four years of high school. He received the George Carver Award his senior year, finished in 6th Place in the Nation in Science in Senior Beta competition and was
Runner-up at State in Science. He won first place FBLA Districts; in other years, he finished second in FBLA Districts and then third place in FBLA Districts.
Lawson qualified for State Cross Country Meet in 2019, 2020, and 2021. He was named All-District Cross Country in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
Lawson has enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon completion of basic training, he is enrolled in their nuclear engineering program.
