Shirley Mae Wood

Shirley Mae Wood, 79, of Greenville, MO, peacefully passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022, at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Taskee, MO, August 10, 1942, to parents, Lee “Roy” Willard, and Hasseltine (Collins) Willard. Shirley was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She married Robert “Leon” Wood, August 20, 1960, and they were blessed with two children. Shirley enjoyed spending her free time cooking, fishing, sewing, and crocheting. She also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family and friends, she was known as everyone’s caretaker. She was a secretary for several years at Compton Heights Baptist Church in St. Louis, MO. She was also Land Secretary and Treasurer for Rucker Cemetery. Her home was always open to family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother: Larry Willard. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of sixty-one years; children: Connie Gasko and husband Bob of St. Louis, Steve Wood and wife Pamela of O’Fallon, MO; grandchild: Dustin Wood and his fiancé Katie Fozzard; great-grandchild: Greyson Wood; great-step grandchildren: Devin and Lily Arias. Shirley will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Ruegg Funeral Home Greenville Chapel. Funeral service was held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 11, 2022, also in the Greenville Chapel. Pastor Wendell Sapp ministered to the family. Dustin Wood, Devin Arias, Michael Willard, Todd Wood, Clayton Wood, and Rick Wood served as pallbearers. Burial followed in Rucker Cemetery, Williamsville, MO.
