Mary Lillian Blanton

Mary Lillian Blanton, known to most as “Lillian” went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2022.  She was born February 23, 1924, in Shibboleth, Missouri the daughter of Ervin and Mary (Hopkins) DeGonia.

Lillian was united in marriage to John Carty Blanton on September 24, 1944.  They were the parents to four children: Linda Baldwin of Ironton, Missouri, Steve Blanton and wife, Teresa of Ironton, Carol Courtois and husband, Greg of Fredericktown, and Lorrie Haus and husband, Jay of Arcadia.  Lillian is also survived by her sister, Virginia Harding of St. Louis, Missouri, ten grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren (one more on the way) and four great great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her husband, Lillian was preceded in death by her son-in-law; John Baldwin, her sister; Ruth DeGonia, and two brothers; Harold DeGonia and Carl DeGonia.

Lillian and her husband, John were the owners of Degonia Dry Goods store and Killarney Drive In.  She was a long-time member of Ste. Marie du Lac Catholic church and Ladies Sodality.  Lillian enjoyed quilting, gardening, tending to her flowers, and watching Wheel of Fortune.  She also liked to watch western movies and television programs such as Matt Dillon, Gunsmoke, and The Virginian.  More than any thing else she loved to socialize and visit with people.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Ste. Marie du Lac Catholic Church.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church prior to the Mass.  Interment will be in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park following the Mass.  Memorials may be made to Ste Marie du Lac Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Online condolences may be made to the family at www.brysonfuneralhome.com.
