Bruce L. Houts

Bruce L. Houts, age 78, formerly of Piedmont, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the NHC Healthcare Center in Desloge, MO. He was born July 11, 1944 in Lemington Spa, England, the son of Venable Houts and Gladys (Goss) Houts.

Bruce was raised in Piedmont and was a graduate of Clearwater High School. He retired from the Proctor and Gamble Plant in Cape Girardeau and had attended Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a Vietnam Veteran, entering the United States Air Force September 9, 1964 and Honorably Discharged as a Sargent September 1, 1968.

He was married to Shirley Brown October 19, 1968 in Piedmont and she passed away October 4, 2007. Also preceding him in death are his parents, Venable and Gladys Houts and 1 infant son, Kevin Houts. Survivors include 2 children, Tinea Mueller and her husband Mark, of Farmington, MO, Bradley Houts, of Farmington, MO, 2 brothers, William Houts and his wife Linda, of Cedar Hill, MO, Venable Houts, Jr. and his wife Cynthia, of Kirkwood, MO, and 1 sister, Mabel Miller and her husband Michael, of Piedmont. In addition, he is survived by 2 grandchildren, Kelsey Houts and Stefani Hogan, 1 great grandchild, Blair Mooney, several nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM Saturday, August 27 at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in Piedmont. Committal with full military honors will be held at the Sparkman Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, MO.
