Charles “Chuck” Meridith Smotherman

Charles “Chuck” Meridith Smotherman, son of the late Timon Smotherman and Mildred (Carter) Smotherman, was born in Eminence, Missouri, on September 11, 1941. He departed this life surrounded by his wife and daughters at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on September 8, 2022, at the age of 80.

On December 22, 1967, in Plant City, Florida, Chuck was united in marriage to the love of his life, Blanche Cannon and to this loving union 4 children were born. Chuck and Blanche dated for 3 months before getting married. Chuck was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was of the Methodist faith. Chuck enjoyed reading, hunting and driving to town every day.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Samuel Smotherman.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Blanche Smotherman of Ellington, Missouri, three daughters, Selena Detrow of Mansfield, Ohio, Rhonda Buckner and companion Scott Tarvid of Centerville, Missouri, and Robin Gaud and companion Mark Chatman of Ellington, Missouri, two sisters, Barbara McCormack of Walla Walla, Washington, and Georgia Armes of Protem, Missouri, 5 grandchildren, Erica, Leslie, Jodi, Danielle and Megan, and 8 great-grandchildren, Rhett, Ridge, Maddox, Liam, Bannon, Harper, Allyson and Andie. Chuck will be deeply missed by a host of relatives and many friends who will mourn his passing.
