Panthers Beat East Carter
The South Iron Panthers beat East Carter 54-45 during action Friday, Dec. 2.
“We were concerned that not playing for over a week that our timing and rhythm might be off offensively,” said Coach Dusty Dinkins. That was the case tonight. We had several turnovers and didn’t finish as well as we did at the AV Tournament. We did battle for 32 minutes and found a way to win a tough, close game.”
South Iron led 17-6 after one quarter of play. At the break, the Panthers held a 26-14 advantage.
The two team traded baskets in the third quarter, each scoring 13 points. In the fourth, the Panthers held a 15-14 advantage to get the win.
Martez Burse scored 16 points to lead the offense. He had three steals, three rebounds, and two blocked shots.
Gabe Ruble scored 13 and was perfect from two-point range, going 5-for-5. He had six assists, three rebounds, and two steals.
Sawyer Huff finished with 9 points. He had four rebounds, three steals, an
d one blocked shot.
Marquis Burse also scored nine points. He had four assist
s, three steals, and one blocked shot.
Micah Thompson led East Carter with 22 points and Kasen McCarty chipped in with eight points
