Ella Sue Roach

Ella Sue Roach, age 82 of Piedmont, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont. She was born August 4, 1940 in Wayne County, the daughter of Dennis Barker and Arla Mae (Mabrey) Barker. Sue was married to Lee Roy Roach May 7, 1960 at Greenville and was a secretary for many years at the Seckman Jr. High School in Arnold. She was a long time member of the Grace Free Will Baptist Church in Arnold and had attended New Hope General Baptist Church in Silva.

  She is preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Arla Mae Barker, her husband, Lee Roy Roach and 2 brothers, Jerry Barker and Robert Barker.

  Survivors include 2 children, Doug Roach and his wife Peggy, of Piedmont, Dana Albert and her husband Russell, of Ellington, 2 sisters, Carolyn Shearrer and her husband Jim, of Patterson and Christa Shrum and her husband Gary, of St. Charles, MO.

  Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Ethan Roach and his wife Micah, of Poplar Bluff, Carlee Lynn and her husband Carter, of Springfield, MO, Emma Roach, of St. Louis, Lainee Albert, of Springfield, MO, and many other family and friends.

  Funeral services were held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at the New Hope General Baptist Church in Silva with Pastor Dan Ross officiating. A special recorded song was played for the service and the church choir provided special music. Buddy VanNoy, Monte Twidwell, Lee Roach, Jamie Roach, Dennis Schearrer, Wesley Mullins, Ethan Roach and Carter Lynn served as Pall Bearers. Interment was in the Lewis Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Chapel. Memorials have been requested to the Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center or the Lewis Cemetery Association.
