Kathryn Leach Duckett Hogan, birthday January 4, 1930, transitioned to her heavenly home on December 10, 2022. Kay, as she was known, was the second of six children born to James and Lois Duckett. Kay grew up on the family farm just outside Williamsville, graduated from the local high school and married her classmate Melvin Hogan, on July 10, 1948.
Surviving are her daughter, Rose of Chico, California; grandchildren Jason, Christopher, Brian, Kimberly, Anissa and eight great grandchildren. Most of Kay’s adult years were spent in Raytown, MO where she served in numerous capacities at St. Luke’s Methodist Church and was always present in the church choir. Kay’s vocal talents were evident early in life. Music remained important to her and her solos for many occasions over the decades were admired by all who were privileged to hear her. She also participated in the Raytown Community Choir and the Kansas City Muni Opera.
Although musically talented, the trait that brought her the most pleasure was being a nurturer. Her kind and gentle spirit made everyone feel welcome, at ease and important. She was always offering a helping hand and a listening ear.
Services for Kathryn Leah Duckett Hogan were held December 15,2022 with committal following at Floral Hills Cemetery Kansas City, MO.
