Melvin “Mel” Lee Dickerson

Melvin “Mel” Lee Dickerson, 81, of St. Louis, MO, formerly of Piedmont, MO, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, at Mercy South in St. Louis, MO. He was born in Olathe, CO, August 21, 1941, to parents John and Mary (Allen) Dickerson.

Melvin enjoyed nature, especially bird watching. He loved fishing and his favorite fishing spot was at Kentucky Lake. If you knew Melvin, you knew he enjoyed funny practical jokes. He served in the US Army.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Janice.

Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Dolores “Dee” Dickerson of fifty-seven years; nieces: Mary Ridenour and Laura Hewlett; nephews: Paul Ridenour and Mike Ridenour; three great nieces and nephews; and three great-great niece and nephews; sister: Anna and her husband John Ridenour. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 12:00 noon, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Paul Ridenour wrote a heartfelt eulogy. Laura Hewlett read the eulogy and gave a heartfelt tribute. Mike Ridenour provided music. Mike Ridenour, Kevin Hewlett, Joe Ridenour, James Sloan, David Davis and Alex Ruegg served as pallbearers. Burial was in New Liberty Cemetery, near Piedmont, MO.
