Reta Kay Alfrey

Reta Kay Alfrey, 65, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023, at her residence. She was born in Malden, MO, June 26, 1957, to parents Matthew and Clara (York) Hufford. Reta was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She worked at Walmart in Piedmont for several years and was currently taking care of her daughter. She was of the Baptist faith. Reta had a free spirit and a strong faith. She loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved gardening, sewing, walking, riding her bike in her free time. Reta had attended Vatterott College in Tulsa, OK, where she earned her Associates Degree as a paralegal. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Mimms; grandparents: Earl W and Myrtie B (Keasler) Hufford; eleven aunts and uncles; nieces: Jenniffer Michelle and Jessica Marie Hufford; cousin: Rick Earnhardt. Reta is survived by her husband, Johnny Alfrey; children: Ladawn Massey of Piedmont, Misty Doctor of Tulsa, OK, Shawn Summerall of AK, Billy Knight of Red Oak, OK; grandchildren: Rhett Massey and wife of Malden, Dakota Burleson, Jace Alfrey of Piedmont; great-grandchildren: Waylon Massey, and Paisley Massey; brothers: Michael Hufford and wife Donna Sue of Malden, Dennis Hufford of Burleson, SC, Rick Hufford of St. Louis; sisters: Laurie Daugherty and Taylor Durling both of FL; aunts: Rosellia Kelly of Eldorado, IL, Mable C. Norman of Dexter; uncle: Denzel Hufford of Bloomfield; nephew: Christopher Michael Norman and wife Brandy of Wellborn, FL. Reta will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation was held at 4:00 pm, Friday, February 10, 2023, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel.
