James William Turnbough
James William Turnbough, age 76, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at his home near Piedmont. He was born September 2, 1946 in Poplar Bluff, MO, the son of James F. Turnbough and Gladys (Petty) Turnbough.
He was married to Sandra Handy and to this union two daughters, Yvonne and Angela, were born. Jim was the long time owner/operator of Turnbough Building Supply in Piedmont. He was a past president of the Lions Club and a former member of the Board of Directors for Peoples Community Bank. He loved to fly his plane and winter in Florida and had his pilot’s license since the age of 28. He worked on many projects and was always busy.
Jim was married to Jeanette Craft May 5, 1992 in Hot Springs, AR and was a lifelong resident of Piedmont.
Preceding him in death are his parents, James and Gladys Turnbough.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Jeanette Turnbough, of the home, 2 daughters, Yvonne Turnbough, of Franklin, TN and Angela Turnbough, of Piedmont, 3 step children, Brian Wohlschlaeger and his wife Holly, of Huntsville, AL, Susan Steward, of Prince George, VA, Kathryn Cribbs and her husband Jason, of Montreal, MO and one sister, Nora Newman and her husband Charles, of Sellersburg, IN.
Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Tyler Turnbough, of Piedmont, Christiana Graham and her husband Frank, of Manhattan, NY, Sam, Ben and Chloe Wohlschlaeger, of Huntsville, AL, Maili, Trey and Trenton Steward, of Prince George, VA, Marin Cribbs, of Montreal, MO, along with many other family and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in Piedmont with Bro. Pete Ruble and Rev. David Littles officiating. Special recorded songs were played for the service and Tyler Turnbough, Gary Shearrer, Wesley Crum, Jeff Hand, Michael Hackworth, Andy Gayle, Lee Roach and Trey Steward served as Pall Bearers. Interment was in the Carson Hill Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Chapel. Memorials have been requested to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
