Lonnie Brooks

Lonnie Brooks entered into rest surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at the age of 79 Years, 6 Months, and 7 Days. He was born July 24, 1943 in Banner, Missouri to the late Cletis and Gladys (Neff) Brooks. On September 7, 1963, Lonnie was united in marriage to Janet (Barton) Brooks who survives. To this union three children were born, Kimberly Phillips and husband Tony of Wright City, MO, Kristina Reed and husband Roger of Ironton, MO, and Lonnie Brooks II of Springfield, MO, all of whom survive. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Gabriel Reed, Anthony Phillips, Morgan Nelson and husband Garen, and Evan Phillips; one great-grandchild Nora Phillips, two brothers, Jerry Brooks and wife Teresa of Farmington, MO and Larry Brooks and wife Karen of Belleview, MO, four sisters-in-law, Dianne Strange of Ironton, MO, Donna Causey and husband Gary or Caledonia, MO, Cathy Brooks of Ironton, MO, and Anita Dement and husband James of Boss, MO; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Lonnie is preceded in rest by his parents Cletis and Gladys Brooks, a brother James Brooks, and two brothers-in-law, Ted Strange and Herman Brooks. For many years Lonnie worked for Amax and ISP to support his family. While working for ISP he worked hard and worked his way to foreman. In his off-time he was an officer for the Pilot Knob Fire Department, he worked for the Iron County Ambulance District, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ironton, the Arcadia Valley Elks Lodge, the Arcadia Valley Lion’s Club, the Star of the West 133, and enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, the Kansas City Chiefs. He also loved classic car shows and driving his old El Camino when he had it. Lonnie will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Cole Family Chapel from 11:00 AM to 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Cole Family Chapel at 1:00 PM. Interment will be held at Arcadia Valley Memorial Park. Bro. Ralph Crocker will be officiating the service. In lieu of flowers the family have asked that a memorial be made to the Signer Senior Center.
