Arvel Richard Pierson

Arvel Richard Pierson, known to most as “Rich” passed away February 12, 2023 in Bridgeton, Missouri at the age of 77 years.  He was born March 1, 1945 in Ironton, Missouri the son of the late Arvel R. and Verena (Sherrill) Pierson.

On July 4, 1969 he was united in marriage to Victoria “Vickie” Bradburry.  She preceded him in death on February 25, 2017.  They were the parents to two children: Kimberly Pierson of St. Charles, Missouri, and Scott Pierson (Valerie) of Maryland Heights, Missouri.  Rich is also survived by his grandson, Marcus Freeman (Jordan) and his granddaughter, Ashley Hoffman (Tony Lang).  Two great grandsons survive; Xavier Freeman and Parker Lang as well as his great granddaughter, Paityn Lang.  Rich is also survived by two sisters: Anita Jackson (Jim) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Brenda Naumann (Fred) of Festus, Missouri, a nephew, Dave Naumann and a niece, Jodie Bridger as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Rich was a 1963 graduate of Cleveland High School in St. Louis, Missouri.  He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force.  He worked as a computer programmer for AT & T, Southwestern Bell, Lucent Technologies and most recently Express Scripts.  Rich was a member of Free Spirit General Baptist Church when he lived in the Annapolis area.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.  His great grandchildren held a special place in his heart.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel with Marcus Freeman officiating.  Visitation was at 11:00 prior to the service.  Interment was in Mann Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Mann Cemetery Association.  Online condolences may be made to the family at www.brysonfuneralhome.com.
