Helen Louise Mitchell

Helen Louise Mitchell of Pilot Knob, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the age of 92 years, 3 months and 2 days.  She was born on December 5, 1930 in Marinette, Wisconsin to the late Edwin and Emma (Sandmeyer) Hanson.

On May 4, 1978, Helen was united in marriage to Jack Edward Mitchell who  preceded her in death on February 9, 2011.  She had four “bonus” children; Michael (Carol) Mitchell, Ronald Mitchell, Dale “Scott” Mitchell of Lena, Wisconsin, and Pam Mitchell.   All have preceded her in death except Scott.  She is survived by two brothers-in-law: Donald “Jerry” Mitchell of St. Louis, Missouri, and Billy Mitchell of Blytheville, Arkansas, a sister-in-law: Doris Hultz  of Needles, California, and a special cousin, Margaret Lundy of Normal, Illinois.

Helen was a 1948 graduate of Marinette High School and she attended two years of college. She worked as a Medical Lab Tech for Arcadia Valley Hospital. Helen was a member of Arcadia Valley United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Quilters club.  Along with quilting, Helen was a beautiful artist who loved to paint and needlepoint.

Services for Helen was held at Bryson Funeral Home on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.  Rev. Marty Blakey officiated.  Visitation was also on Friday  from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Helen’s final resting place will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with her late husband Jack.  Interment was on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 12:45 p.m.
