Charlotte Dyan Moss

Charlotte Dyan Moss, daughter of the late Wilber “Chick” Smith and Verna Mae (Chilton) Smith, was born in Eminence, Missouri, on February 1, 1943. She departed this life at Brent B. Tinnin Manor in Ellington, Missouri, on March 19, 2023, at the age of 80.

On July 29, 1961, in Ellington, Missouri, Charlotte was united in marriage to Phil Moss and to this loving union two children were born. On March 25, 1956, at the age of 13, Charlotte was saved and baptized at the Ellington First Baptist Church. She loved her church family, especially the youth and enjoyed going to church every chance she could while she was still able. Charlotte was a member of the Ellington First Baptist Church, Eastern Star and Red Hatters. Charlotte and Phil owned and operated Phil’s Midwest Sales, a shoe and clothing store, in Ellington for 15 years. They also built the Scenic Rivers Motel and operated it for 15 years. In 1997, they started Blazer Boat Manufacturing and operated it with their son, Calvin and his wife Lisa, who are still running it today. She enjoyed making garden, arts and crafts festivals, square dancing, mowing grass, turkey hunting, watching deer and elk, and boat riding on Current River. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family at their cabin on Current River.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Evelyn Wilson.

Charlotte is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Phil Moss of Ellington, Missouri, one son, Calvin Moss and wife Lisa of Ellington, Missouri, one daughter, Dyan Brawley of Crane, Missouri, brother-in-law, Junior Wilson of Greenville, Missouri, six grandchildren, Steve, Kim, Molly, Gracie, Nolan and Nathan, 8 great-grandchildren, Ava, Chloey, Mayson, Braden, Brystal, Eliza, Ruby and Saylee, nephews, Greg and Brett Wilson, niece, Rachel Jernigan, and a host of Moss in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Charlotte will be deeply missed by her family and friends who will mourn her passing.

Visitation was held Thursday, March 23, 2022, 10AM-1PM at McSpadden Funeral Home, Ellington, Missouri.

Funeral followed at 1PM.

Pastor Jim Stewart, Pastor Ben Pickett and Pastor Ryan Welch ministered.

Burial was at Ellington Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Nathan Moss, Nolan Brawley, Nick Black, Jayson Marquis, James Eaton and Stevie Prater.

In Lieu of Flowers: Donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
