Claude Ellis Roberts

Claude Ellis Roberts, age 83, of Centerville, Missouri, passed away at 5:18 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at his granddaughter’s house in Mt. Vernon. He was born October 8, 1939, in Piedmont, Missouri, the son of Hobart and Hattie Mae (Beard) Roberts-Kelly.

Claude was a 1958 graduate of Piedmont High School in Piedmont, Missouri. He was a United States Navy veteran and worked for the Ford Motor Company in St. Louis, Missouri. He loved fishing, hunting, storytelling, reading books about history, western stories, taking walks looking for arrowheads and spending time with family.

On October 27, 1966, he married Arline Rae Schuster, in St. Louis, Missouri. She preceded him in death on August 15, 2014.

Claude is survived by his son, Don Bennett; one daughter, Sheila Akeman; five grandchildren, Heather Palmertree, Liza Bennett, Sean Bennett, Cory Bennett, and Angela Akeman; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob Dralle, Lillian Dralle, Kylie Bennett, Hayden Anderson, Colton Viebrock, Payton Bennett, Weston Ford, and Paxton Wolfe; one brother, Cliff Roberts and one sister, Barb Roberts.

Claude was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart Roberts, and Hattie Kelly; his wife, Arline; one great-grandson, Lucas Bennett; two sisters, Juanita, and Anita Roberts and one brother, Sam Roberts.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Santhuff Cemetery in Ellington, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
