Matti P. Looney has been named the valedictorian of the 2023 graduating class of Greenville High School. Mackenzie M. Marler has been named the salutatorian.
Miss Looney and Miss Marler will lead a class of 54 seniors at the commencement ceremony Sunday afternoon, May 7th, 2023 at 3 p.m. in the Greenville High School gymnasium.
Matti Looney
Matti is the daughter of Matt and Tara Looney of Lodi, MO. She has been an involved student and during her high school career, Matti participated in many activities and received several honors.
Honors and Awards: Greenville Jr./Sr. High Top 5 (Grades 7-12), Top Gold in FCCLA Star Event “Chapter Service Project” (Regional and State Level, Grade 10), Top Gold in FCCLA Star Event “Chapter Service Display (Regional and State Level Grade 11), and Top Gold in FCCLA Star Event (Regional and State Level Grade 12)
Student of the Month award for September 2022 and A+ Scholar
Clubs and Organizations: Future Career and Community Leaders of America (current president, grades 9-12), Fellowship of Christian Students (Grades 9-12), National Honor Society (Grades 11 and 12), Senior Beta Club (Grades 9-12), GHS Cross Country (Grades 9-10), GHS Girls Volleyball (Grades 9-12) and GHS Girls Basketball (Grades 9-12)
Matti will also graduate from Greenville High School with her Associate of Arts degree from Three Rivers College. She will attend University of Missouri-Columbia and major in radiology. Matti plans to pursue a physician’s assistant degree once her radiology major is complete.
McKenzie Marler
Mackenzie is the daughter of Chris and Robin Marler of Silva, MO. She has been an active student during her high school career. Mackenzie has received several honors and participated in many organizations.
Honors and Awards: Top 5 Class Ranking (Grade 8-12), English (Grades 9-11), Algebra II (Grade 11), and Biology II (Grade 11)
Greenville High School Student of the Month September 2022 and A+ Scholar.
Clubs and Organizations: Future Career and Community Leaders of America (Grades 9-12), Senior Beta Club (Grades 9-12), Future Farmers of America (Grades 9-12), GHS Girls Volleyball (Grades 9-10) Most Kills Award 2020 and 2021, GHS Girls Basketball (Grades 9-10) Most Points Award 2020 and 2021 and All-Conference Honorable Mention 2020, Rodeo (Grades 7-12) 1st Place Shamrock Showdown, 2nd Place St. Francois Fair, Equatic Saddle Series Buckle Youth, Multiple 1-D Wins, Red Cross Blood Drive Volunteer (Grade 11), Pep Club (Grade 11), Christmas Toy Drives (Grades 10-11), and FCCLA Food Drives (Grades 9-12)
Mackenzie plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University for her undergraduate degree and then attend medical school. She wants to become an OB/GYN with a specialty in fertility.
