Phoebe Correne White

Phoebe Correne White, daughter of the late Everett Johnson and Hester (Mason) Johnson, was born in Black, Missouri, on March 29, 1937. She departed this life at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, on May 18, 2023, at the age of 86.

On March 21, 1954, in Oates, Missouri, Phoebe was united in marriage to Earl Lee White and to this loving union two children were born. Earl preceded her in death on August 7, 1994. Phoebe was a member of the Locust Grove United Baptist Church in Oates, Missouri. She enjoyed embroidering, quilting, reading, gardening and riding around looking at flowers. Phoebe loved being at home and feeding her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

Phoebe was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, Carl, Willie and Elmo Johnson, 3 sisters, Verda Ratliff, Louise Burns and Dorothy Miller.

Phoebe is survived by one son, Hardy White and wife Katie of Farmington, Missouri, one daughter, Mitzi Midkiff and husband Gary “Speed” of Farmington, Missouri, two brothers, John Johnson of Bruner, Missouri, and Gary Johnson of Salem, Missouri, two sisters, Clara Hawkinson of Marshfield, Missouri, and Margie Hammons of Salem, Missouri, 4 grandchildren, Jake Midkiff and wife Kathy, Chelsea Yanske and husband T.J., Cara Midkiff and husband Glennon, and Hayden White, and 2 great-grandchildren, Juliet and Violet Yanske. Phoebe will be deeply missed by her family and friends who will mourn her passing.

Visitation was held Monday, May 22, 2023, 5-8PM at McSpadden Funeral Home, Lesterville, Missouri.

Funeral was held Tuesday, May 23, 2023, 11AM at Locust Grove United Baptist Church, Oates, Missouri.

Pallbearers: Jake Midkiff, Hayden White, T.J. Yanske, Glennon Williams, Reggie Burns and Lyndle Ratliff
