Fatal Wreck Occurs on Highway K

A one-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Farmington man and also sent Park Hills man to the hospital. The crash occurred Sunday, May 28, at 3:17 p.m. on Highway K, 13 miles east of Ellington.
Tanner M. Murphy, 24, of Park Hills was eastbound in a 2000 GMC Sierra. The Highway Patrol reported that Murphy’s truck ran off the right side of the roadway. He reportedly overcorrected and struck an embankment and the truck overturned.
The car was truck was totalled in the crash. It was towed from the scene by Forshee’s Towing.
Zachiriah A. Hahan, 24, of Farmington, died in the crash. The Highway Patrol reported that he was not wearing a seat belt. Hahn was pronounced dead at the scene by Reynolds County Coroner Jeff McSpadden.
Murphy, who also was not wearing a seat belt, was moderately injured and transported by ambulance to Iron County Medical Center. According to the Highway Patrol’s online arrest reports, Murphy was cited for felony driving while intoxicated (alcohol), causing the death of another.
