Steven Cross

Steven Cross, 64, of Poplar Bluff passed away June 1, 2023. He was born July 3, 1958 in Farmington, MO to Martin and Irma (Penberthy) Cross. During his long career in education, Steve taught in the Arcadia Valley, Bismarck, and North St. Francois County school districts. He was also and adjunct instructor at Mineral Area College and Three Rivers Community College. Steve’s passion was writing, ad he authored several books, plays, and short stories. Steve was a member of the New Life Christian Church United in Poplar Bluff.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Irma Cross. He is survived by his wife Jean of Poplar Bluff; daughter Megan (Sean) Lebron and three grandchildren, Avaline, Tristan, and Eowyn, all of Poplar Bluff; his father Martin Cross of Desloge; brother Gary (Nell) Cross of Marshall, MO; sisters Teri Cross of Desloge, Julie (Floyd) Hammers of Farmington, MO, Lori (Bill) Testerman of Marshall, MO; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at CZ Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from noon until the time of the service at 3:00 pm. Pastor John Harrell will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the following: The Lymphoma Research Foundation, The American Cancer Society, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
