Golda May Smith

Smith, Golda May, nee Barnes, passed away early morning on Monday June 19, 2023, at 95; cherished mother of the late Barbara Edwards, Eldon Ray “Butch” (Tina) Reeves, Cecil (Linda Gabel) Reeves, Donna (Art) Donze, and Darla Fraizer; dear grandmother to Jerry Larkin, Brandi Winters, Adam Reeves, Clint Reeves, Gina Reeves, James Standler, Sarah Pilger, Jesse Reeves, Loren Reeves, Michael Reeves, Matthew Donze, Kayla Donze, Copper Frazier, Jr., and Derek Fraizer; survived by many great-grandchildren, other family and friends. Golda is preceded in death by siblings Jesse Barnes, John Barnes, James Barnes, and Coy Barnes; husbands, Raymond E. Reeves and Paul R. Smith; parents, Robert and Dollie Barnes.

Golda was known to be very social as she enjoyed dancing, attending Lodge functions with her husband, and listening to other people’s stories. In quieter moments, Golda also enjoyed gardening flowers and reading, anything from books to the hometown newspaper.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Shriner’s Hospital appreciated.

Visitation will be held on Thurs. June 22, 2023, from 4 to 8 p.m. at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County Chapel, 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd St. Louis, MO 63129. Funeral the following day, June 23 at 12 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
