Mary (Martin) Helen Kelley

Mary (Martin) Helen Kelley, 75, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away, Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at her residence. She was born in Poplar Bluff, January 28, 1948, to parents Everett Martin and Verna (Fagg) Garcia. Mary was a loving mother, cousin, and friend. Mary was quite a crafty woman. She enjoyed sewing, arranging flowers, and succeeded in making many other crafts. Mary was a kindhearted person with a heart of gold. She was a self-made woman who came from nothing and made her own way through life. Mary was self-employed most of her working career. She worked in a factory during the day and at the Beachcomber Lounge until she made enough money to buy it when she lived in Mississippi. She then owned and operated Mary’s Beachcomber Lounge and she sponsored many sports teams during her career. Mary also owned and operated The Martin House in Greenville, as she enjoyed cooking and making people smile. She enjoyed helping others and taking care of people. She is preceded in death by both of her parents. Mary is survived by her children: Freddie Maxwell, Danny Morgan, Sheila Maxwell, and Charles Maxwell; several grandchildren and a special cousin and caregiver: Carmella Fenske of Poplar Bluff. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Monday, July 17, 2023, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. A memorial service followed at 7:00 pm, also in Greenville Chapel. Pastor Sandy Mick-Shockey ministered to the family. Carmella Fenske and Jennifer Kemp gave heartfelt eulogies.
