Julene ‘Judy’ B. Stamey

Julene “Judy” B. Stamey, age 81, of Virginia Beach, went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2023.

Judy was born into a family of seven siblings, always known as “The Magnificent Seven”, to Everett and Beulah Bales. She grew up on a farm in a small town in Ellington, Missouri and studied Art at Skagit Valley College, Mt Vernon, Washington.

When she left Missouri, she traveled the world as a Navy wife for 17 years before settling in Virginia Beach.  She served as Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader for her three children. She had infinite energy and was always on the go, the secret behind her energy source was coffee and chocolate! Always busy sewing costumes and clothes for her family as a gifted seamstress along with countless crafts; she still found time to create a Yoga program at Meridian, Mississippi Military Base. She was a Real Estate Agent at Judy Andrassy Realty, as well as William E. Wood, for over 35 years earning numerous Million Dollar Sales Awards throughout her career.  As a talented singer, she joined her Church Choir and The Virginia Voices International, which travelled around the world spreading her love of Jesus with music to England, Scotland, Russia and several countries throughout South America.  In her free time, she enjoyed many years as a “Master Gardener” at Trant Lake Garden Club.

Left to cherish Judy’s memory is her husband James C. Stamey and her children: Stephanie (Parsons), Kathryn (Felthousen), Christopher (Bay) and wife Lisa; grandchildren: Jessica (Rusbasan), Jennifer (Peters), Joshua (Clark), Michael (Parsons), Jeffrey (Bay), Nick (Bay), Samantha (Bay) and 3 great grandchildren; step-children: Mike Stamey, Kay (Randall) Gregory , Joy (Chuck) Justice, Brad (Lori) Stamey ; step-grandchildren: Blanton, Elizabeth, Ashli, Brittney, Adam, Christian, Brooke, Drew, Mark, Ben and 5 great step-grandchildren. Now, she is reunited with her predeceased family, parents: Everett and Beulah Bales along with siblings: Irene (Hampton), Erlene (Roush), James Bales, Janet (Christensen), Jerry Bales & Harlen Bales. She will be dearly missed by numerous extended family & friends.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date, for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Judy Stamey’s memory.
