Alma Aldine Woodcock

Alma Aldine Woodcock of Ironton, MO, entered into rest with her family by her side on Friday, August 11, 2023, at the age of 89 years, 2 months, and 8 days. She was born June 3, 1934, in Elvins, MO to the late Famous Thomas and Grace (Midget) Johnson.

On May 18, 1952, Alma was united in marriage to the love of her life Donald Edward Woodcock who preceded her in rest on June 16, 2020. To this union six children were born, Donna Jean King of Ironton, MO, Sandra Kay Trask and husband Steve of Arcadia, MO, Carol Ann Hardy and husband Mike of Ironton, MO, Linda Jo Bohannon and fiancé Brett Roberts of Arcadia, MO, Lana Sue Durham of Ironton, MO, and Matthew Edward Woodcock and wife Nancy of San Antonio, TX, all of whom survive.

Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Terry Pannebecker, Christy Clark, Jason King, Jeremy Trask, Amber Anderson, Amie Adams, Andrew Hardy, Jessica Henroid, Jonathan Bohannon, Emily Lewis, and Aubrie Polk; 22 great-grandchildren with one on the way, two sisters Annabelle Underwood and Barbara Ross, both of Elvins, MO, and many more loving family members and friends.

Alma is preceded in rest by her parents, her husband Donald Woodcock, three brothers, Albert Johnson, Roy Johnson, and a baby brother in infancy; six sisters, Violet Porter, Opal House, Irene Hart, Christine Poland, Nancy Tidwell, and Zella Black; and two sons-in-law, Kevin Bohannon, and Bill Durham.

Alma grew up on a farm in Elvins, a true country girl. She loved to walk into town with her sisters and the local quarry was a favorite place to spend time and make lasting childhood memories. After graduating from high school and marrying Don, and a brief six-month career at the U.S. Post Office, she began her long career in the insurance industry. Once she obtained her insurance agent license (before Don), she and Don later started their own office for State Farm Insurance where they worked together serving the Arcadia Valley for many years. When Alma wasn’t working, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, teaching Sunday School and serving in multiple positions in church, painting, coloring, making crafts, talking on the phone, silently donating to organizations which needed help, and telling family and friends to shop local to support the community. She was a life-long member of the Nazarene Church in Ironton, MO, and was an “Unofficial” official bible scholar. She loved the Lord, her family, and her community. Alma was the definition of a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and community member. Alma Woodcock will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
