George R. Ploesser

George R. Ploesser, age 76, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023 at the Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont. He was born February 14, 1947 in St. Louis, MO, the son of George O. Ploesser and Laverne (Jansen) Ploesser.
George was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. He was a farmer and logger and was a long time resident of Silva. George was married to Alta Bean May 1, 1971 in St. Louis and had attended Mt. Pisgah General Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death are his parents and 2 brothers, Jim and Chuck Ploesser.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Alta Ploesser, of the home, 3 daughters, Tessa Ploesser, of St. Louis, Kelly Pahlmann and her husband Kenneth, of St. Louis, Debbie Bowman and her husband Randy, of Silva, 1 brother, LeRoy Ploesser and his wife Cindy, of Steelville MO and 1 sister, Shirley Illert, of St. Louis.
Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Richard Bennett and his wife Jenny and Michael Bennett; 6 great grandchildren, Brittney, Cody, Bailey, Illa, Gracyn and Jace; along with several nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in Greenville with Rev. Jerry Montgomery and Rev. Mike Green officiating. Special recorded songs were played for the service and Tessa Ploesser gave an eulogy. John Haggett, Charles Ploesser, LeRoy Ploesser, Cody Bennett, Richard Bennett and Jase Montgomery-Bennett served as Pall Bearers. Graveside Honors were given by the United States Army and the Piedmont American Legion Post 281 Honor Team. Interment was in the Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Chapel.
