Nora Annita Kemp, known to most everyone as “Ann” passed away September 4, 2023 in Farmington, Missouri at the age of 80 years. She was born November 10, 1942 in Quilan, Missouri the daughter of the late William and Retha Rose (Carisle) Walker.
Ann’s family moved to St. Louis when she was a year old. She was raised there and graduated from Central High School in 1961. She worked part time for Technicolor and was working there when she heard about the assassination of President Kennedy on the speaker. Over the years she worked as a school bus driver and when she retired in 1987 she was working for ISP/SGI. Most of her life she was a stay-at-home Mom.
On March 13, 1964 she was united in marriage to Melvin “Leon” Kemp who preceded her in death in February of 1993. To this union two daughters were born: Tricia Reed and husband, Elvin of Vulcan, Missouri and Lisa Ruble and husband, Jeff also of Vulcan, Missouri. Ann is the grandmother to six grandchildren: Trent, Britney, Boyd, James, Erica, and Trevor, and eleven great grandchildren who were all precious to her. She is survived by her brother, Don Walker of Florrisant, Missouri and her sister, Ruby Huelskamp of Lebanon, Missouri as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by two brothers: Sherman Walker and Charles Walker and two sisters: Eileen Wicker and Mary Thouviner.
Ann was a member of the Vulcan Assembly of God Church. She served on the church board and worked with the women’s missionary services. Ann enjoyed quilting, especially with her Mom. She liked embroidery as well. Ann was a good bowler and she bowled in leagues and entered tournaments. She won the all spare trophy and patch and had a 179 average. Ann loved to read, and she read many books every week. In addition to reading, she enjoyed working puzzle books and playing games on her IPAD. She was also a faithful soap opera viewer.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brent Reed and Pastor Daniel Tidmore officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Annapolis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Annapolis Cemetery Association.
