Patricia Ann Carr of Ironton, Missouri passed away September 13, 2023 in Farmington, Missouri at the age of 67 years. She was born January 28, 1956 in Effingham, Illinois the daughter of the late Robert Frank Brown and Bettye Lea (McCoy) Brown.
Patricia is survived by her children: Ashlea Elledge (Frankie) of Arcadia, Missouri, Nathan Carr of Ironton, Missouri, Jason Carr of Park Hills, Missouri, and Kirsten Hancock. Patricia was a foster Mom to Preston Smith who she raised until he graduated high school. She is also survived by two sisters: Iris Brown of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Melinda Mudrovic (Tim) of High Ridge, Missouri, eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Ron Carr.
Patricia was a strong woman with determination. She completed her GED and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice when she was in her thirties. She worked at Valley Springs Youth Ranch for many years as a house parent, running the detention center, and she finished her career there serving as the librarian for the on grounds school. She was gifted with compassion for troubled youth. She gained their respect by treating them with respect.
In her free time, she loved to be outside. She loved plants and gardening and going to the creek. She loved to be barefoot with her feet planted firmly on the earth. She also enjoyed reading. She had a strong Christian faith and belief.
Patricia’s family planned a memorial gathering on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Ford Davidson State Park in Pilot Knob, Missouri.
