The Southern Iron County Fire Protection District has recently been able to upgrade aging equipment to better serve the residents of Iron County. A Quick Attack/Brush Truck has been added to House #1 in Annapolis and a second Brush Truck has been added to House #2 in Des Arc. Funding for the trucks was provided by the Peoples Community Bank.
An ARPA Grant for $32,250.00 through the Missouri Department of Public Safety for Hurst Extrication Equipment was approved and provides much needed upgrades to our current equipment. A grant through USDA for $22,887.00 provided for new Brush Truck Equipment included tank, pump, blowers and chain saws for the truck added in Des Arc. Both grants were written and submitted by EMR Jim Oxendine. In addition, new Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) were purchased for each firehouse. A special thanks to Kyle Huff and SGI in Annapolis for providing funding for one of the AEDs. The new equipment will be on display during the Annapolis Freedom Fest.
