Iowa Bank Robbery Suspects Crash, Arrested in Piedmont

A vehicle containing suspected bank robbery suspects from Iowa crashed Thursday morning in Piedmont. They hit a pole at Sonic. Hordes of law enforcement officials were on the scene investigating. More information will be forthcoming. According to Sonic workers, at least two people were in the vehicle when it crashed around 10:15 a.m.. One person exited the vehicle from the driver’s side and one from the back seat. One of the suspects attempted to flee, according to Sonic workers, but was tackled by officers. Clearwater School was made aware of a situation involving law enforcement. “For the safety and security of all staff and students, we entered into a lockdown procedure for a short period of time,” said a press released from the school. “There was never any direct threat to the school or to our students, this was a preventative action. The situation has since been resolved and we are no longer under lockdown. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.”

Authorities confirm that all bank robbery suspects have been apprehended. Sgt. Clark Parrott of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said that four suspects are in custody. They were wanted for an alleged bank robbery in Iowa. Parrott said this is an active investigation and more details will be released later.
The names of the robbery suspects have not been released. Authorities are conducting interviews as part of their investigation. When the investigation is complete, names of the suspects will be released.
Parrott said authorities were able to track and locate the suspects via GPS. Readers tell the newspaper that the bank robbers had been in Williamsville earlier that morning. Readers also reported seeing a line of 13 law enforcement vehicles travelling on Route V toward Highway 34 before the crash.
Two suspects were initially apprehended, Parrott said. The other two fled and were apprehended after a crash in Piedmont. The vehicle hit a pole at Sonic at approximately 10:15 a.m.
